Medieval life: Stonemasons

The Medieval Stonemason asserts that they were not monks but highly skilled craftsmen who combined the roles of the architect, builder, craftsman, designer, and engineer. Many, if not all masons of the Middle Ages learned their craft through an informal apprentice system.
