  • Olympe de Gouges (1748-1793) was a French playwright and political activist who advocated for women’s rights and the abolition of slavery. She was one of the earliest feminist writers and is best known for her «Declaration of the Rights of Woman and the Female Citizen,» which she published in 1791.
  • Mary Wollstonecraft (1759-1797) was an English writer, philosopher, and advocate for women’s rights. She is best known for her book «A Vindication of the Rights of Woman,» which was published in 1792 and is considered one of the foundational texts of modern feminism.
  • Harriet Tubman (1822-1913) was an American abolitionist and political activist who escaped from slavery and went on to become a «conductor» on the Underground Railroad, helping hundreds of enslaved people escape to freedom. She was also a suffragist, a nurse during the Civil War, and a spy for the Union Army.
  • Emmeline Pankhurst (1858-1928) was a British political activist and leader of the suffragette movement, which fought for women’s right to vote in the early 20th century. She founded the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) in 1903 and led a campaign of civil disobedience and direct action that helped secure women’s suffrage in the UK.
