Loving Vincent

Loving Vincent

The Visual Peak: Loving Vincent (2017) It is, quite literally, an unprecedented visual spectacle. It is the first feature film in cinema history made entirely out of oil paintings.

  • What is it about? A year after Van Gogh’s death, a young man is tasked with delivering the painter’s final letter to his brother, Theo. As he sets off on his journey, he becomes a sort of detective, investigating whether Van Gogh actually committed suicide or if he was murdered.
  • Every single one of the film’s 65,000 frames is a hand-painted oil canvas created by more than 100 artists, mimicking Van Gogh’s vibrant and electric style. Visually, it will blow your mind, and the plot has the pacing of a gripping murder mystery thriller.
